Constitution Avenue Traffic Restricted for Reagan Funeral

(Washington, DC)  The District Department of Transportation announces preliminary traffic restrictions for Constitution Avenue in connection with the funeral for President Ronald Reagan.

Constitution Avenue, NW, will be closed from 3 pm to 9 pm Wednesday from 23rd Street to the Capitol, including the 12th and 9th Street tunnels and all other cross streets.  23rd Street, NW, will be open to outbound/southbound traffic to the Roosevelt Bridge, while inbound traffic will be diverted to E Street Expressway; the 3rd Street/I-395 tunnel will be open.  Because of the closure of Constitution Avenue, motorists are discouraged from using inbound I-66.

Motorists who normally cross or use Constitution Ave are urged to go north using our Event Routes to the Beltway, including Canal Road, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Georgia, Rhode Island and New York Avenues, 16th Street and Benning Road.

Motorists are reminded that the no-parking restrictions started on Constitution Avenue at 3 pm Tuesday.

Additional traffic restrictions will be announced as soon as they become available.
