DDOT Sponsors Bike Safety Classes

The District Department of Transportation will sponsor two sets of bicycle safety classes over the next six weeks. The classes include both classroom and on-road sessions on how to ride in traffic, avoid hazards, use gears for a more comfortable ride and perform basic bicycle maintenance.

“The number of people riding bikes is going up and we want everyone to ride safely and with enjoyment, as my family and I do,” said Dan Tangherlini, Director of the District Department of Transportation. “After this pair of sessions you'll be ready to take full advantage of the new bike lanes, trails and bike parking racks DDOT has put into service.”

The classes, cosponsored by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, are open to adults 18 and over and children if accompanied by an adult.

To sign up for the classes, please call (202) 628-2500 or email.
