Update: 9th Street NE Bridge Emergency Closing

(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Transportation expects to reopen the 9th Street NE Bridge by May 21st. DDOT and its contractors are working 12-hour shifts and weekends to reopen the span as soon as possible. The bridge, over the Amtrak and CSX tracks, was closed for safety reasons because a temporary reinforcement structure had settled and was no longer providing the necessary support.

The bridge carries about 20,000 vehicles every weekday, including those for the new Brentwood Shopping Center, BET, Amtrak and the Post Office.
